Town Hall Station Upgrade
This project took place at Town Hall Railway Station, the busiest station in
terms of passenger numbers on the Sydney network. The sheer volume of people
passing through this station brought obvious logistical difficulties to a
project which encompassed:
- demolition of unpaid areas and increase in pedestrian access
- removal and replacement of all services
- upgrade of fire systems
- upgrade of air conditioning systems
- retiling of floor and walls
- installation of new metal ceilings.
RailCorp report of the changes made by Gartner Rose:
Since the concourse area was expanded passenger flow has improved and there has been a marked reduction in delays for people seeking to enter or exit Town Hall Station from the QVB Side.
Town Hall Station Manager Clyde Livingstone says:
Customer service standards have increased dramatically with many people expressing their apprecitation since the opening of the new ticket gates at the QVB exit of the station concourse"
Client: Rail Corporation of NSW
Value: $3 million
