Casula Station Easy Access Upgrade
Due to the construction of the Southern Sydney Freight Line, modifications are
required at Casula Station. The rail corridor will be widened (by others) to
allow the new non-electrified
freight line to be constructed on the Eastern side of the existing tracks.
Gartner Rose has been appointed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to construct the required modifications to the stations, and simultaneously upgrade the station to Easy Access standards.
The existing footbridge will be extended eastwards to allow access over the new freight line.
The extension of the footbridge will also require construction of new stairs on the east side of the station to provide access to the Powerhouse car park. Three lifts will be constructed to enable easy access to:
- The Powerhouse car park
- The Casula Rd car park
- The existing eastern platform.
The general works outside Casula station will involve a retaining wall surrounding the existing car park, realignment of Casula Rd, footpaths and the existing car park.
