SUCCESSFUL POSSESSION - Waratah Station 14th & 15th March (WE37)
160 persons worked a total of 1,684 hours to complete the works required over the shutdown weekend and the station was ready and opened for commuters by Monday morning.
The possession saw the new permanent staircase installed to Platform 1, complete with handrails, screens and tactiles. Following the successful installation of the staircase, the temporary footbridge was then removed.
To allow for the works, the elevated work platforms were sequenced around crane lifts to manage and ensure compliance with Exclusion Zones.
Further detail of the key activities undertaken over the possession
weekend include but weren't limited to:
- Installation of canopy roof sheeting, flashings, gutters and soffits
- Demolition of the existing stair entry at Platform 2
- Commissioning of the new stair entry at Platform 2
- Installation of permanent fencing at the Lift 3 bridge entrance
- Installation of new station Distribution Board
