Over 42 weeks of construction, including 7 possession
weekends and 23,000 hours worked, our Redfern Station Entry project is
complete for Sydney Trains.
The new entrance was constructed on the corner of Gibbons and Lawson
Streets to replace the old entrance, allowing an improved commuter
movement throughout the station, particularly to platforms 11 and 12.
Further scope of the works included new LED lighting, digital CCTV
coverage, new passenger information displays, new wayfinding and a new
bicycle storage facility.
The now open, well-lit and vibrant concourse
celebrates Aboriginal culture, acknowledging the Aboriginal community and
the history of Redfern. The official opening in late 2018 was celebrated
with a spectacular smoking ceremony and Aboriginal
A great effort from everyone involved as commuters
and the site team were able to travel throughout the station safely for
the duration of the works.
