Hyde Park Barracks North Range Project Completion
Gartner Rose is delighted to advise of the safe and successful completion of the Hyde Park Barracks North Range project.
Gartner Rose returned to Hyde Park Barracks to undertake remediation works to the exterior shell of several World Heritage listed buildings, including:
- Building C: Centre Pavilion Cell Block
- Building D: District Court Building
- Building E: Bakehouse Store Rooms and Judges Rooms
- Building F: Deputy Superintendent Building
- Building G: Barracks and District Court
- Building H: Courtrooms
All works were completed within a live environment. The scope of works included, but not limited to:
- Replacement of the existing roof sheeting and eaves gutters, reusing battens and leadwork, and retaining the timber shingles
- Rainwater goods upgrade including replacement and installation of new downpipes
- Cleaning of the dome roof on building C
- Removal of cement render, desalination and re-rendering with traditional lime render to the lower section of wall on building C
- Installation of new insulation into the roof space of buildings D, F and G
- Installation of new fascia and guttering to building H
- Provision and fit of custom made terracotta chimney pots
- Removal of lead dust from the roof spaces of buildings D, F, and G, along with the removal of lead paint from each chimney
- Replacement of lead flashing on buildings E and F
- Desalination of the north wall on building E to address damp ingress
- Timber repairs to windows and doors including rehanging sashes and making windows operable, replacing bottom rail of a window and removing several existing fittings
- Painting all walls, fascia, eaves, soffits, windows, doors and rainwater goods
