Gartner Rose Hyde Park Barracks

Project Award for Hyde Park Barracks

We are delighted to advise that Gartner Rose has been appointed by Sydney Living Museums to undertake a lift project at the Hyde Park Barracks Museum.

As current access to the upper levels is by stairs only, the works will involve the construction of a new lift shaft, supply and installation of the lift to link all three levels. The project will potentially improve the access and experience to all visitors for a greater engagement to the unique Sydney landmark and world heritage building (UNESCO).

The Hyde Park Barracks Museum stands as one of the most notable buildings to survive the early European settlement in NSW being of heritage and cultural significance. The Barracks was designed by architect Francis Greenway and built by convict labour in 1817-1819 to provide accommodation for male convicts.

The works will take place from January 2019, following the Christmas break.

We look forward to a safe and successful project.
