Parliament House NSW Facades Restoration Project Completion
Gartner Rose is delighted to advise the safe and successful completion of the Parliament House NSW Façades Restoration project.
Works included, but weren’t limited to:
- Lead paint removal to sandstone façade elements
- Desalination of sandstone elements
- Sandstone column repair with stone indents and partial / full column replacement
- Removal and replacement of cementitious pointing / mortar joints on the front wall and sandstone pavers
- Timber repairs and structural upgrades to balustrades, windows, fascias and louvers
- Repairs to termite damaged timber columns using timber indents and internal timber plug
- Hazardous material removal on the Rum Hospital verandah
- Structural timber repairs to the Rum Hospital verandah and replacement of the timber floor boards
- Application of a new paint system to all facades including Macquarie Street fencing, guardhouse and Speakers Wing
- Installation of new copper gutters, rainwater heads and downpipes on the Rum Hospital
- Render replacement across the façade including walls, balustrades and chimneys
- Replaced cracked paving stones to the front façade of Parliament House
- Major Lighting upgrades to illuminate the facade in several colours for events such as Vivid
- Other integrated and associated, fire, electrical, data and security works
This project was completed within a live environment with Parliament House maintaining operation throughout the works.
