Waitara Station Upgrade featured in Rail Express

Transport for NSW recently shared an update on its Safe Accessible Transport program within the September 2025 edition of Rail Express.

The Safe Accessible Transport program aims to make public transport more inclusive and easier to use, delivering vital upgrades across the network.

The Waitara Station Upgrade, constructed by Gartner Rose, is one of five stations featured within the article as a standout project showcasing how “… thoughtful station upgrades can transform not only the passenger experience but the fabric of the places they serve”.

An extract from the article reads:

“Waitara Station sits at the heart of a high-density residential suburb, with the rail corridor acting as a physical divide with limited opportunities for crossing. Previously, access was primarily via a narrow underpass and stairways. To improve permeability and accessibility across the suburb, a new Northern entrance was delivered – featuring an underpass and lifts. This innovative underpass solution marked a first for an accessibility upgrade on the network… offering a safe and visually cohesive environment.”
