Award Win at the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) NSW Architecture Awards
We are thrilled to announce the restoration and refurbishment works completed at Parliament House NSW have been announced as the winner of the Award for Heritage (Conservation) at the 2025 Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) NSW Architecture Awards.
This prestigious award recognises excellence in heritage conservation and celebrates the projects that go beyond restoration. Tracey Skovronek, Managing Director from Purcell Architects said: “Receiving this recognition from the AIA is a true honour. It reinforces our belief that heritage-led design plays a central role in shaping sustainable, inclusive, and culturally rich places.”
The awards ceremony saw a total of 72 winners and commendations announced, selected from a remarkable 284 entries. NSW Chapter President, Elizabeth Carpenter FRAIA, stated that: “This year’s awards highlight a profession not only responding to urgent challenges, but leading with integrity, innovation and care. The awarded projects are powerful reminders that architecture is both an art and a responsibility – one that connects communities, strengthens cultural understanding and shapes more sustainable and inclusive futures.”

We would like to congratulate Purcell Architects and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer on this momentous win and thank the NSW Parliament Capital Works Team, Gartner Rose project team, subcontractors and consultants, for the safe and successful completion of both of these incredible projects. This award is testament to the collaborative efforts between all parties to successfully complete the complex conservation and restoration works undertaken on this iconic heritage landmark.
