Greenway Cooks To Cove Project Completion
Gartner Rose is delighted to advise the safe and successful completion of The Greenway project.
This project encompassed:
- Construction of three tunnels under live roads
- 175m cantilevered steel platform over Hawthorne Canal and under Parramatta Road
- Bridge over Hawthorne Canal and piling works within Hawthorne Canal
- Elevated steel platforms along approximately 280m of steep embankment adjacent to the light rail and under New Canterbury Road
- 190m low level steel boardwalk within existing ecological zone between Davis St and Johnson Park
- Demolition, bulk earthworks, stormwater drainage, wetlands, concrete paths, lighting, wayfinding signage, fencing and landscaping along approximately 2km of the rail corridor
- Numerous utility diversions including water mains and relocation power poles. Protection of existing live utilities in the vicinity of the works including gas mains and electrical transmission cables
- Traffic signalisation of junction on Old Canterbury Road
- Upgrade of existing council roads and footpaths at Smith St and Weston Street
- Refurbishment of Johnson’s Park and Hercules Parklands
Hailed as “Sydney’s version of the New York High Line” the completion of The Greenway has revolutionised how families and commuters can move through and connect with the Inner West through its feature of shared paths, foreshore walks, cultural and historical sites, cafés and bushcare sites, as well as a wide range of parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
