Successful WE13 Possession at Chester Hill Station
We are delighted to advise the safe and successful utilisation of the WE13 possession at Chester Hill Station.
As part of the WE13 possession, the following scope was undertaken:
- Extended the end of each platform by over 15 metres by installing 18 precast concrete culverts
- Installed a new 32 metre long canopy to the country end of the platform
- Installed eight (8) piles, some extending down to 6.3 metres
- Demolished 30 metres of existing canopy
- Installed a new temporary elevated portal frame to hold lights and communications equipment
- Removed friable asbestos within the ceiling space of the station building
- Removed circa 50 tonnes of spoil and demolition material which had accumulated within the platform hoardings
- Rerouted signals to outside the platform area
Throughout the possession, Gartner Rose utilised 17 pieces of plant, without the requirement for a crane. This meant road closures were avoided which resulted in a significantly better outcome for the community.
The work was also completed adjacent to the live ARTC track, with 165 workers attending site over the two days with a total of 1,555 hours worked. The possession was completed with zero First Aid Injuries (FAIs), Medical Treatment Injuries (MTIs) or incidents.
