Matraville Youth and Cultural Hall

This project involved the demolition of the existing community hall followed by the construction of the new Youth and Cultural Hall. The single storey building comprises a community hall area, adjoining covered outdoor space, kitchen, storage area, bin / waste area, services room, male and female bathrooms, an accessible bathroom and entry foyer.

External works included landscaping works, a paved entryway for pedestrian access, bicycle racks, solar panels and rainwater tanks, as well as electric vehicle charging points.

The Arborist report identified several important native trees that were to be protected throughout the construction program. During construction, it was identified that the new roof structure would directly impact one of the protected trees. In consultation with the design team and Arborist, Gartner Rose assisted in providing an alternate roofing design which met the requirements for the new building, but did not impact on the protected tree.
