Redfern Station Entry
The new entrance to Redfern Station was constructed on the corner of Gibbons and Lawson Streets to replace the old entrance, allowing improved commuter movement throughout the station, particularly to platforms 11 and 12.
The project was completed within a live and heritage sensitive environment with commuters and the site team able to travel throughout the station safely for the duration of the works. Additional works included new LED lighting, digital CCTV coverage, new passenger information displays, new wayfinding with a new bicycle storage facility.
The well lit, vibrant concourse celebrates Aboriginal culture, acknowledging the Aboriginal community and the history of Redfern. The success of the project was celebrated with an official opening presentation in late 2018 and celebrated with a spectacular smoking ceremony and Aboriginal performances.
