Project Award for the Greenway Project
We are delighted to announce that Gartner Rose have been appointed by Inner West Council to undertake the design and construction of the Greenway Cooks to Cove Project.
The Greenway In-Corridor Works project is a recognisable environmental, cultural and non-motorised transport corridor linking the sub-catchments of two of Sydney’s most important waterways.
Following the route of the Inner West Light Rail, the Greenway features bike paths and foreshore walks, cultural and historical sites, public art, community events, cafes, bushcare sites and a range of parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities. The Master Plan sets out a unique, integrated, place-based approach that combines the four main functions of the Greenway – active travel, ecology, recreation and culture.
Scope of work will include but is not limited to:
- Three tunnels under live roads including Longport Street (tunnel consisting of 23m long canopy tubes), Davis Street (21m long cut and cover tunnel) and Constitution Road (15-long cut and cover tunnel)
- 80m cantilevered path over Hawthorne Canal and under Parramatta Road
- Bridge over Hawthorne Canal and piling works within Hawthorne Canal
- Elevated steel platforms along approximately 500m of steep embankment adjacent the light rail and under New Canterbury Road
- Bulk earthworks, stormwater, wetlands, creek restoration, concrete paths, lighting, wayfinding signage, fencing and landscaping along approximately 2km of the rail corridor.
- Numerous utility diversions including Sydney Water pipes up to 500mm dia, relocation of power poles and reconfiguration of gas mains
- New traffic signal junction on Old Canterbury Road
- Refurbishment of Johnson’s Park and Hercules Parklands
