Station Canopies Project
Gartner Rose was appointed by RailCorp to design and construct canopies on
eight stations - from Newcastle to Springwood.
The geographical spread of work, coupled with the traditional challanges of working in the live rail environment, meant this project was logistically very difficult.
The stations involved were:
* Newcastle Station
* Woy Woy Station
* Hornsby Station
* Wiley Park Station
* Padstow Station
* Oatley Station
* Canley Vale Station
* Springwood Station
Gartner Rose appointed Suters Architects, headed up by Hicham Noori, to produce the designs for this project. Gartner Rose Project Manager, Marc Witham, worked closely with Suters, a team of consultants and RailCorp directly to co-ordinate the works.
The vast majority of work was only able to be undertaken during "Track Possessions" where the lines were shut down over the course of a weekend. This was due to the cranage of steel and roof sheeting so close to the live wires.
Gartner Rose is extremely proud of safely and successfully completing one of the most challanging rail projects.
